Valentine's Day 2018

Rick and I took Valentine gifts for the grand's to their homes on Monday night.  The grandgirl's received pink and white doggies with either a small purse carrying a poodle or a barking dancing pink dog.  The boys all received $20 cash.  Each family received a box of heart shaped fruit filled jellies. We loved getting to see smiling faces and hugs.  Reed and Henry will receive their on Saturday.

I walked into the kitchen this morning and found lovely roses with chocolate covered strawberries.  He's sneaky like that :) .

Saturday & Sunday January 27 & 28, 2018

Quite at home, I had all day Saturday inside with drizzling rain.  Rick was moving cattle from a leased pasture to 'The Loop', hopefully we have left the dog issue behind.  I overheard him telling Colt that the total loss of cows due to dogs was 2 and at least 4 calves.  The dogs attack when the cows are birthing.

I managed to get some housework done but not enough to make a difference; the pile of clean laundry grew on the table, sorted but not folded or hung (well hung on the back of chairs).

Started watching Murdoch Mystery on Acorn TV. I think it will be a great vehicle when sewing just like Midsomer Murders.  Speaking of sewing, I got in several hours of piecing.  Finished the 2017 BOM's individual blocks now I need to do the center applique' Santa and house/trees border while piecing the blocks I continued on with two by two squares into four by four and actually ironed a few!  I am loving this simple quilt.

Bonnie Hunter - Thought of the Day 1-26-18

I am so very guilty of this habit and it is one I need to stop doing.  I always assume that no one cares for my opinion or thought.

Hurray - in just a few hours the weekend will be upon us!  Normal cleaning THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE will hopefully be completed.

I have messed around a lot of time this morning spent attempting to have all the buttons the same size.  I wish I knew more about the programming of blog details.  Maybe I need the book 'blogging for dummies'.

January 25, 2018

Rick came home last night and reported that there were less dogs running freely at the land ~ that is a very good thing. The owner of the dogs who killed the cow/calves has not spoken up, he drives 'short hauls' and is rarely home, has a housesitter who stated the dogs were only being fed when she was there.  Giving the quantity of dogs there I'd hope that some were truly not his but those that had been 'thrown out' and banded with his dogs.  Either way the county looks at it as the dogs 'home' on your property they are your problem.  If dogs 'home' on your property that are not yours, call and someone will come pick them up.  I wonder if that really happens :) , regardless I am very happy with the response received from the county patrol officers.

Breanna calls and provides some funnies most everyday about the boys.  Last night it was a question from Reed about Henry wanting to know why she did not call Henry 'her fat boy' any more!  You just never know what will be coming from those two boys.

Strange that Colt has his truck parked at the house; wonder if something happened to Jennifer's Uncle.  I know I could call/text and ask but, nah, I am not going to 'interrupt' whatever is going on.

Loss of livestock

Dogs have been on a rampage the last few weeks taking a cow/calf and two calves.  County law enforcement have been called twice with two reports being made.  Leased landholder killed one dog.  The county law is supposed to pick up a few more today.  Starting 2018 with a loss, down over $3K in January 2018.

Family

Tornado ripped through Eustace and successfully deconstructed Colt and Jennifer's home.  The outside of the house is significantly damaged with the interior remaining safe.  Thank goodness they built the safe room, thank goodness they built the home's interior wall supports from metal studs.  They scrambled inside the safe room during the category 4 tornado.  While waiting Conley fell asleep and Grady talked!  Love them.
Chelsey and Kenneth's home was sparred; the tornado split into two dividing them in the middle.  They lost electricity and water for four days.
Both families came into our home.  It went very nice.  The four kiddoes loved being together.
Tomorrow, Saturday, May 6, 2017 is a joint birthday celebration for Everett and Cheyenne.  Chelsey will be having her elected surgeries at the end of May.
Flower bed in front is looking spectacular.  Great job Roxann!!!

Henry's feeling better and other things

Henry was ill this week, not feeling well with a stomach bug.  Thomas stayed home during the week  with him for two days.  Rick and I will be traveling down to them tomorrow, Saturday, to watch Reed ride mutton.  Cannot wait to see those two delightful grandsons.  This picture of Henry is when he is obviously feeling better, he's playing with the trucks and boats and the bear that I made for his Momma, Breanna.

Finished binding the fishing quilt for Everett and made him a pirate pillow case trimmed in Green, his favorite color.   In case we found them at the Mexican Restaurant tonight we took it all with us, but they were not there.  It will get to him soon.

Next week is Grady's birthday party time.  The boys are beginning new stages.  It is glorious to see and yet sad to see too.  I love their energy, their innocense, and their joy.

Sent this quilt off to be quilted - it chosen recipient is Thomas.  Hope he enjoy the flannel.

Monday morning notes September 26, 2016

It seems time is quickly passing.  Cooler weather is being predicted and that's a great thing to have coming.
Allergies are rampantly aggressive and effecting both Rick and myself.  Grrr, cannot abide ragweed.
After mowing the yard Saturday morning, I gleefully spent the afternoon with Chelsey, Everett, and Cheyenne shopping at Terrell's Outlet Mall.  We stopped at McDonald's on the way home and received a viewing of an airshow that was very exciting for Everett.
Completed Conley's quilt, it's washed and dried and ready to be delivered.  Started the charity quilt for homeless people's here in Dallas.  The precut items were not cut accurately.  Gave the piecing to God and continued forward.  Some are attached by a scant thread.  She better quilt the dickens out of it to keep the piecing from fraying.

Reed is 5 and other happenings

Reed  - our first grandson became a whooping five year old September 6th.

In celebration, the family got together down at Breanna's and Thomas'.  All six of the grand's had a great time.  Humidity was awful, lucky for them they got to cool off in the pool.

Rick and Colt wanted to include setting up the deer feeders, filling them and checking cameras.

Sunday, Jennifer took Colt to the eye doctor.  Somehow he scratched his eye and was in a lot of pain.  I got to keep Grady and Cheyenne while they were away.  After the dr. appt. she took Colt home and came and stayed for a few hours with us.

Love my family
